Men Sought After Briefly Abducting Driver, Stealing His Truck
Irvine police were looking Saturday for at least two men believed to have kidnapped the driver of a large truck the day before and hijacked his cargo.
The unidentified driver was later found with minor injuries in a Pomona alley.
About 9 a.m. Friday, two men -- described as in their late 30s or early 40s and driving an early 1980s maroon Cadillac sedan -- forced the truck to the side of the road near Sand Canyon Avenue and Barranca Parkway in Irvine. Pushing their way into the truck’s cab, they bound and blindfolded the driver, put him in the trunk of their car and one of them drove him away.
The truck was described as a 1990 Freightliner with California license number 9B36813. It was still being sought Saturday, along with its cargo: printer cartridges bound for a company in Irvine.
