Catchings Helps Fever Beat Sun in Double Overtime
Tamika Catchings scored 25 points, including the go-ahead basket in the second overtime, as the Indiana Fever held off the Connecticut Sun, 94-90, on Thursday night before 4,112.
Catchings also led the Fever with 16 rebounds and scored seven of Indiana’s 14 points in the second overtime. Her layup with 33.9 seconds left broke an 88-88 tie.
Four free throws from Stephanie White and Kristen Rasmussen iced the game in the closing seconds.
“She is just a warrior,” Fever Coach Nell Fortner said of Catchings. “She pursues the ball so well. Her pursuit is what makes her stand out. She has the ability to take it to another level.”
