Oxnard Man Is Killed in Truck Crash
A 55-year-old Oxnard man was killed early Wednesday when his pickup truck slammed into a dirt embankment near Fillmore, causing a large trailer he was towing to shoot forward and crush a portion of the truck’s cab.
James Gresham was pronounced dead at the scene of the 4 a.m. accident on westbound California 126 near Fillmore, California Highway Patrol officials said. No other vehicles were involved.
Gresham was driving a 2004 Chevrolet pickup and towing a trailer carrying a motorcycle and two sprint race cars, officials said. At some point, the vehicle veered left across the road and struck a utility pole support wire.
The truck then hit the embankment, causing the trailer to jump forward. Gresham, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was not wearing his seatbelt.
