Woman Injured When Car Hits Restaurant
A woman was injured Thursday when a car plowed into a packed Fountain Valley restaurant during lunch hour, police said. The woman, Jill Adams, 34, of Huntington Beach, was taken to a hospital for shoulder and back pain.
The crash occurred about 12:30 p.m. at the Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar on Brookhurst Street, police said.
The driver of a car, Jonathan Ward, 22, of Stanton, was making a turn from Phillips Avenue to Brookhurst when he was rear-ended by an SUV, police said. The car jumped a curb and hit the restaurant and Adams.
Police said Ward tried to flee, but bystanders tackled him and held him until officers arrived. He was arrested on suspicion of hit and run.
Ward suffered a cut on his arm that required stitches. The driver of the SUV, a 17-year-old Fountain Valley boy, suffered back pains.
