A Corona man who was hit by two cars as he tried to flee an accident that he was involved in on the Costa Mesa Freeway has been identified.

David Michael Anthony, 39, was involved in a noninjury accident shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday on the northbound freeway near MacArthur Boulevard on the border of Tustin and Santa Ana, authorities said.

Anthony got out of his car, ran across the freeway and down a dirt embankment, and tried to cross the MacArthur onramp when he was struck by a car, whose driver fled, said California Highway Patrol spokesman Mike Sheldon. A second car, driven by a Carson woman, 21, entered the onramp and also struck Anthony. She waited for police, who found Anthony dead.
