* Chris Gagne, Santa Ana Mater Dei: Pitched a two-hitter, striking out eight and walking one, to lead the visiting Monarchs (22-8) to a 2-0 victory over San Clemente (17-11-1) in a Southern Section Division I quarterfinal.

* Travis Tartamella, Rancho Cucamonga Los Osos: The junior catcher had a two-run double and a three-run triple for the Grizzlies (20-8) in a 10-7 Division II victory over visiting Santa Barbara (20-7).

* James Kang, Huntington Beach Ocean View: His second hit was a two-out, game-winning single to right field to give the second-seeded Seahawks (23-5) a 3-2 victory over visiting Ontario Colony (21-6) in a Division III quarterfinal.

* Bubba Garcia, Temecula Valley: His grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the fourth-seeded Golden Bears (24-5) an 8-5 Division III victory over Cerritos Gahr (23-6).
