* Katy Nikolova and Krista Slocum, Palisades: Each swept her sets at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, to lead the top-seeded Dolphins (14-0) to a 6-1 victory over fourth-seeded Bell (14-1) in a City Section Championship division semifinal. Palisades will play Carson (15-0) in the title match at 1 p.m. Friday at Balboa Sports Center in Encino.

* Teresa Macias, Carson: Swept her No. 3 singles sets to help the second-seeded Colts defeat third-seeded and three-time defending champion Granada Hills, 4-3, in a City Section Championship division semifinal, ending a 50-match winning streak against City opponents for the Highlanders. The streak started after a 4-3 setback to Carson in the 2001 City title match.
