Highlights of this week’s high school football schedule:

SOUTHERN SECTION

* Orange Lutheran (2-0) vs. Santa Margarita (2-0) at Saddleback College, 7:30 p.m., Friday: After watching Santa Margarita speedster Ryan Maxwell surprise Los Angeles Dorsey with three long touchdowns in a 27-21 victory last week, Orange Lutheran Coach Jim Kunau said he was “unpleasantly surprised” with the team speed of the Eagles, ranked No. 5 in the Southland by The Times. The No. 9 Lancers will counter with junior quarterback Aaron Corp, who passed for 142 yards and ran for 184 in Orange Lutheran’s last game, a 27-21 victory over Santa Ana Mater Dei two weeks ago. Sophomore running back Ricky Pemasa and sophomore tight end Blake Ayles are emerging as the Lancers’ other offensive weapons. Ayles caught two touchdown passes against the Monarchs. It will be the third game between the teams. Last year, Orange Lutheran won, 19-0, and in 1989, Santa Margarita won, 42-0.

* Anaheim Servite (1-1) vs. Huntington Beach Edison (2-1) at Huntington Beach High, 7 p.m., Friday: Third-ranked Edison had better not take the unranked Friars lightly because first-year Coach Troy Thomas has the players believing in themselves. A young team that figures to make weekly improvement, Servite has junior quarterback Daniel Klein and an aggressive defense led by junior linebacker Chris Galippo. Edison, the favorite in the competitive Sunset League, seems to have its offense back in high gear with quarterback Brian Shrock and lineman Romney Fuga, a two-way starter. This game could be decided in the fourth quarter by which team can most effectively run the ball.

* Westlake Village Westlake (1-1) vs. Newhall Hart (1-1) at College of the Canyons, 7 p.m., Friday: Two proud, successful programs coming back from rare five-loss seasons are struggling with injuries and blocking deficiencies. Hart quarterback Tyler Lyon has been sacked at least 11 times in two games. The Indians need to take pressure off Lyon with a more consistent running game. Injuries have left Westlake with holes to fill. Its best receiver and defensive back, Marlon Bills, might not play because of a hamstring pull. And running back Jeff Rapoport is hurting with a thigh bruise. The game will be televised by FSN West 2.

* Ventura St. Bonaventure (3-0) at Lakewood (2-0), 7 p.m., Friday: Lakewood, behind a remarkable defense, had its best team ever last season. Things are reversed this season; the Lancers have won twice by a combined eight points, despite averaging 29 points behind quarterback Jeff Fischer, who has completed 61.7% of his passes, and Justin Robertson, who has averaged 6.0 yards a carry. Eighth-ranked St. Bonaventure, which lost last year’s game, 24-7, has never beaten a Division I team, but seems remarkably similar to Lakewood. The Seraphs are led by quarterback Matt Evans, who has completed 60.4% of his passes and running back Michael Lee, who is averaging 6.0 yards a carry.

INTERSECTIONAL

* Colton (2-0) at Crenshaw (1-1), 7 p.m., Friday: Crenshaw is clearly the more tested team, having outlasted Compton Dominguez in three overtimes, 38-35, and dropping a 35-34 shootout to Woodland Hills Taft, both ranked teams at the time. But the No. 22 Cougars can hardly afford any mistakes against a potent offense such as No. 18 Colton’s, which gained a season-low 689 yards last week, when it beat Paso Robles, 64-28, despite 175 yards in penalties. Shareece Wright and Allen Bradford give Colton a strong ground game, but the difference between last year, when Crenshaw won, 31-20, and this year is that Brad Sorenson gives the Yellowjackets a competent passing game too.
