CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION

Carson 97, Sylmar 76
Junior Gerard Anderson had 29 points and 13 rebounds, Ryan Walton had 17 points and Marques Washington added 15 points and nine assists for host Carson (18-8). Tommy McNutt had 24 points and Chris Booker had 27 points for Sylmar (16-7). Carson out scored Sylmar, 34-10 in the first quarter.

Cleveland 93, Narbonne 57
Nick Young had 26 points and nine rebounds, and Loren Leath had 20 points for host Cleveland (24-3). Christian Smith had 29 points for Narbonne (13-13).

Crenshaw 72, Palisades 59
Hanif Madyun had 24 points and Brandon Sampay added 17 points for sixth-seeded and host Crenshaw (18-6). D’Andre Bell had 22 points to lead Palisades (15-10).

Dorsey 86, Venice 46
Chuma Awaji scored 18 points to lead host Dorsey (23-2). Venice is 12-14.

Fairfax 121, L.A. Wilson 59
Josh Shipp had 41 points and six assists and Jamal Boykin added 23 points and 11 rebounds to lead Fairfax (21-4) past L.A. Wilson (12-9). Fairfax led, 71-25, at halftime.

Fremont 65, Grant 63
Mark Hill hit a running jump-shot as time expired to win the game for host Fremont (14-10). Danny Williams had 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Pathfinders. Dmitry Levin had 17 points for Grant (17-9).

Narbonne 81, Hollywood 29
Morgan Medlock had 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead No. 6 Narbonne (16-8) past visiting Hollywood (13-9).

South Gate 54, Washington 52 (OT)
Manny Fajardo hit the game-winning 18-foot jump shot in overtime for host South Gate (18-7). He also hit the game-tying floater after dribbling the length of the court in regulation to send the game into overtime and finished with 16 points. Lorenzo Mata had 22 points, 15 rebounds and six blocked shots for South Gate. Washington is 13-8.

Taft 80, Monroe 66
Jordan Farmar scored 22 points and had nine assists and Matt Cook added 23 points for the third-seeded Toreadors (24-2), who won the opening round game of the city championship tournament.

Taft led by only three points late in the third quarter until Monroe (17-8) had three starters go to the bench with four fouls. The Toreadors then went on a 15-4 spurt to break the game open. Dawin Whitten scored 23 points for Monroe.

INVITATIONAL DIVISION

Garfield 82, Sherman Oaks CES 73
Steve Monreal had 30 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists and four steals, including 12 points in the fourth quarter for host Garfield (11-3) which plays Jefferson at home Friday. Cameron Nash had 27 points and Andrew Serber had 21 points for Sherman Oaks CES (13-6).

King-Drew 59, Eagle Rock 57
Marcus Rogers finished with 17 points, 12 rebounds and four assists and Jamaal Thomas also had 17 points for King Drew (13-9), which escaped with a victory in a City Invitational game at King Drew.

King-Drew center Daniel Stewart, who was benched for the first quarter for disciplinary reasons, finished with nine points, 17 rebounds and four blocks.

With Stewart on the sidelines, Eagle Rock took a 23-8 lead after the first quarter.

“They came in with a game plan. They did everything except win the game. I’m just happy to be playing basketball still,” said King-Drew Coach Chris Fancis.

L.A. CES 48, L.A. Marshall 46
Tabrin Gulley hit a three-point shot from the baseline to lift L.A. CES (15-11) to a victory in an Invitational first-round game at Hollywood High. Gulley finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds. L.A. CES outscored Marsball (14-9) by a 17-9 margin in the fourth quarter. Ben Brazil added 11 points and four steals for L.A. CES, which is making its first playoff appearance in three seasons.

L.A. Jordan 75, Foshay 64
Chris Johnson had 24 points and nine rebounds and DeAnthony Brooks added 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead host L.A. Jordan (14-11) past Foshay (10-10).

Eagle Rock 61, Bravo 42
Virgo Buensusefo scored 28 points and Andrew Gupilan added 20 points for Eagle Rock (14-7), which will play top-seeded King-Drew Friday in the first round. Hector Garcia scored nine points for host Bravo (14-9).
