ALPHA LEAGUE

Maranatha 10, Connelly 8
The No. 2 doubles team of Stella Su and Carla Yee won three sets, their last a 6-2 victory over Connelly’s No. 3 team of Kristin Stevens and Paige Eversen that gave Maranatha its tenth set and clinched the Minutemen’s first-ever Alpha League title.

The Minutemen (17-3, 14-0) won their ninth consecutive match, although Maranatha No. 1 singles player Elizabeth Carpenter, who is 40-1 in sets this season, suffered her first defeat of the season, a 6-2 loss to Connelly sophomore Lyndsay Kinstler.

PREP LEAGUE

Chadwick 12, El Segundo 6
Chadwick (11-2, 8-1), ranked No. 3 in the Southern Section Division III coaches’ poll, won two of three in singles and doubles at Peninsula Racquet Club. El Segundo fell to 6-14, 6-7.

Mayfield 13, Flintridge Prep 5
Jessica Harris swept, 6-4, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles for Mayfield (9-6, 5-1). Nina Brooks and Joyce Lamb won two of three sets at No. 2 doubles and Jeniffer Ouyang also won two of three sets at No.1 singles in the loss for host Flintridge Prep (3-14, 0-6).

Senior Tiffany Lee of San Marino (8-5, 5-3) playing No. 1 singles, swept, 6-3, 6-0, 6-2, at South Pasadena. Valerie Yuan and Isabelle Ea, playing No. 3 doubles, also swept for San Marino, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4.

Gahr 13, Paramount 5
Sophomore Ellen Chiu, playing No. 2 singles for Gahr (13-4, 8-3), swept, 6-1, 6-3, 6-0, at Paramount (8-8, 4-8).

Senior Gabby Gomez swept at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1, 6-0, for visiting Lynwood (16-2, 10-1), which clinched the league title, its seventh in a row. Downey fell to 0-11, 0-11.

SEA VIEW LEAGUE

Woodbridge 11, Newport Harbor, 7
Senior Ashley Williams dropped one game in winning three sets, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles and junior Natalie Call won, 6-0, 6-1, 7-5, at No. 2 singles as Woodbridge (13-5, 9-0) won its fifth consecutive match and clinched its fourth Sea View League title in five years with a victory over visiting Newport Harbor.

SOUTHWESTERN LEAGUE

Chaparral 9, Murrieta Valley 9 (Chaparral wins on games, 72-65)
Nazlie Ghazal swep at No. 1 singlest, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, to improve her season record to 31-0 and has only lost five games this year for the Pumas.

Nellie Ghazal and Tori Newell swept, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 1 doubles and Brittney Lougher won the deciding set at No. 3 singles, 6-1, to tie the match for host Chaparral (11-6, 7-1).

Murrieta Valley is 11-5 overall and 7-1 in league. The two teams are now tied atop the Southwestern league standings.

SUNSET LEAGUE

Edison 16, Marina 2
Freshmen Melissa Boyer and Shauna Henderson, playing No. 2 doubles for Edison (11-8, 6-3), swept, 6-2, 6-1, 6-1, against visiting Marina (0-9).

Los Alamitos 11, Huntington Beach 7
Jocelyn Liu and Katie Moore won two of three sets at No. 2 doubles for host Los Alamitos (12-2, 8-1), which clinched at least a share of the league title for the 19th time in 20 years.

The match was continued from Thursday when rain at the Old Ranch Tennis Club forced a postponement with the Griffins leading 7-5.

Los Alamitos is tied at No. 10 and Huntington Beach is ranked No. 7 in the CIF Southern Section Division II coaches’ poll.

ACADEMY LEAGUE

Fairmont Prep 10, Sage Hill 8
Bianca Aboubakare defeated Sarah Geocaris, 6-1, in a replay of last year’s Academy League singles championship match, and Aboubakare also won her sets against two other opponents, 6-3 , 6-1, for Fairmonte Prep (13-0, 10-0) at La Habra Tennis Center. Aboubakare’s sister, freshman Carissa Aboubakare, also won three sets, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, for the Huskies, ranked No. 2 in Div. V. Sage Hill, ranked No. 3 in Division V, falls to 10-5, 8-2 in league.

ALMOMT LEAGUE

Keppel 10, San Gabriel 8
Amber Marsden, playing No. 1 singles for Keppel (15-5, 9-1), swept, 6-2, 6-2, 6-0 and the Aztecs’ No. 1 doubles team of Lauren Maki and Lina King also swept, 6-2, 7-5, 6-3, at San Gabriel (6-4).

Amanda Donson and Juliann Tang won three sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles and the No. 2 doubles team of Catherine Wilson and Megan Yeh won, 6-2, 7-5, 6-2, for Upland (18-1, 10-0), which has won 18 consecutive matches since losing to Walnut in its league opener.

BAY LEAGUE

Peninsula 13, Mira Costa 5
No. 2 singles player Rika Tatsuno defeated Mira Costa’s No. 1 player Rachel Manasse, 6-3, and also won her other two sets, 6-2, 6-2, as the Panthers (16-0, 9-0) clinched the Bay League title with a victory at Mira Costa (14-2, 7-2). Mira Costa finished second in the league standings as a result of the loss.

CENTURY LEAGUE

Brea Olinda 14, Tustin 4
Louise Miclat swept, 6-2, 6-4, 6-1, to lead Brea Olinda (10-10, 2-8), in a season finale for both teams. Tustin finishes 0-10 in league.

El Modena 17, Anaheim Canyon 1
Sarah Smetana won three sets by 6-0 scores to improve her season record in league sets to 26-2 after the victory over visiting Anaheim Canyon.

The Vanguards’ doubles team of Paige Suica and Annemarie Pimentel also won three sets to improve to 26-1 in league sets.

El Modena (15-2, 9-1) clinched at least a share of its first league title in 11 years. The Vanguards, who play defending-champion Villa Park Tuesday, have suffered their only loss against the Spartans.

Paige Suica and Annemarie Pimentel also won three sets to improve to 26-1 in league sets this season.

Taylor McLaughlin of Pacifica (7-7, 6-4), playing at No. 1 singles, defeated Tina Tran 6-3, and also won her other two matches at Garden Grove (10-6, 8-3), which is ranked No. 8 in Division III.

Stephanie Karas, playing No. 2 singles for Riverside King (16-2, 8-0), won her three matches at love and Mercedes Vazquez won her matches by scores of 6-3, 6-0 and 6-1 at No. 3 singles. North fell to 6-12 overall and 1-7 in league.

Michelle Dokic led a sweep in singles with 6-0, 6-0, 6-1, victories at No. 1 singles for visiting Moorpark (12-2, 9-2). Anna Karra swept, 7-5, 6-4, 6-0, and Jillian Baker swept, 7-6, 6-0, 6-0, for the Pioneers. Crystal Norris and Kendall Bacher won two doubles sets, 6-2, 6-2, for Royal.

The Panthers (5-10, 4-7) won all nine singles sets in a victory over visiting Simi Valley.

OLYMPIC LEAGUE

Campbell Hall 16, Buckley 2
Ally Krasnopolsky, Katarina Reveche, and Michelle Sulahian combined to lose only one game in their No. 1, 2, and 3 singles sets respectively for host Cambell Hall, the Div. III champion, but is currently ranked No. 2 in the Division behind Brentwood. Brentwood and Campbell Hall will play each other Tuesday at Valley College in Van Nuys for the Divisional Championship and No. 1 seed in the playoffs. Campbell Hall improves to 13-1, 6-1 in league.

PACIFIC LEAGUE

Arcadia 18, Muir 0
Arcadia, which is ranked No. 4 in Div. II, improved to 20-0 overall and 10-0 in league with a win over last-place Muir, which fell to 0-10 in league.

No. 1 singles player Mykala Hedberg, the defending Pacific View League singles champion, dropped just one game in winning three sets, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, to lead Oxnard (9-4, 8-1) in a victory at Oxnard Pacifica. Oxnard’s No. 2 player feshman Ariel Bergthold rallied from a 3-5 deficit to win, 7-5, over Pacifica’s No. 1 player Tammy Kim. Bergthold also won her other two sets, 6-1, 6-1, and Oxnard’s top two doubles teams also each won three sets.

Freshman Swati Yanamadala won three sets, 6-0, 6-1, 6-0, and Bridget Bartlett won, 6-2, 6-2, 7-5, to lead Chadwick (10-2, 8-1) at Westridge (8-5, 4-5). Chadwick’s top two doubles teams also swept.

Pasadena Poly 9, Flintridge Prep 9 (Pasadena Poly win on games, 74-70)
Briana Barthley and Leslie Bryant and Mae Petua-Wong and Jill Nickerson, swept their No. 1 and 2 doubles sets respectively for Pasadena Poly at Pasadena City College. Jennifer Ouyang, playing No. 1 singles for Flintridge Prep (3-14, 0-7), swept, 6-0, 6-3, 6-1.

Carissa Aboubakare dropped just one game in winning three sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-1, for Fairmont Prep (12-0, 9-0), the defending Academy League champion, in a victory at La Habra Tennis Center.

The Huskies’ No. 1 doubles team of Jenny Chung and Julie Luzar also dropped only one game, winning, 6-0, 6-1, 6-0.

Jennifer Wahba won three matches without losing a single game at No. 2 singles for Mira Costa (20-2, 7-1), the No. 8-ranked team in Division I, as it dominated the match at West Torrance (0-7 in league).

Lisa Hardebeck swept at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, 7-6 (5), including a victory over Villa Park’s top player, Daria Zamudio, to lead host El Modena (14-2, 8-1), which had sweeps from each of its doubles teams. It was the first time Villa Park (12-6, 8-1) has lost a Century League match in ten years.

The doubles team of Kayla Whitemyer and Maggie Durkin won three sets and Lara Dochery won the two singles sets she played for Palm Desert (11-1, 7-0) in a victory at PGA West Country Club.

Chaparral 9, Temecula Valley 9 (Chaparral won on games, 83-76)
Brittany Lougher won three critical singles matches for Chaparral (10-6, 6-1), including getting two 7-6 victories in sets where she faced match point, as the Pumas stayed on track toward a league title showdown tomorrow against Murrieta Valley.

Lougher won each tiebreaker by an 8-6 score, including the final match against Temecula’s No. 1 singles player Amanda Johnson, as Chaparral had eight of its nine victories in singles.

Northwestern-bound Nazlie Ghazal of Chaparral swept her three matches at love to improve to 28-0 this season. Ghazal has lost only three games all year. Temecula fell to 11-6 overall and 4-3 in league.
