The Ocean View High boys’ basketball team played its final tournament of the summer season last weekend, ending its summer run with an appearance at the Palm Springs Tournament at Palm Springs High.
The Seahawks finished third in the tournament. They defeated Los Angeles Jefferson, Capistrano Valley Christian and Santa Ynez. Their only loss was to Indio Shadow Hills.
Ocean View previously won the Premier Division of The Big One Tournament on July 17 at Santiago Canyon College in Orange.
The Seahawks were without 6-foot-7 junior Mehkel Harvey, who last season suffered a patella tendon injury.
“We had a very productive summer winning two tournaments and finishing 3-1 at this one,” Ocean View co-Coach Roger Holmes said. “We were able to get many new players a lot of experience this summer.
“Our group has shown a strong work ethic and is excited to turn their attention and focus to now getting ready for the 2016-17 season.”

The National team defeated the American team, 5-4, Saturday in the Under Armour All-American Game, which was called after seven innings due to lightning and heavy rains at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
Nick Pratto and Hagen Danner, both of Huntington Beach High, are part of the 40-player USA Baseball 18U National Team Trials roster. Pratto played first base Saturday, and was hit twice by pitch and scored twice.
Prior to the All-American Game, players took part in a formal workout before Major League scouts and a home run derby July 22 at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. Saturday’s game aired on the MLB Network.
