Friday’s top high school football games:
Trabuco Hills (9-4) at San Clemente (12-1), 7:30 p.m. (FS West): These Sea View League rivals will be playing for the second time this season. San Clemente won the first meeting, 42-35. Trabuco Hills is peaking under first-year Coach Tony Henney. Quarterback Jimmy Jacobs has 27 touchdown passes and relies on the outstanding receiver duo of Jacob Breeland and Noah Thompson. USC-bound quarterback Sam Darnold leads a San Clemente team seeking its first section title. The pick: San Clemente.
Downey (10-3) vs. Crescenta Valley (13-0) at Glendale, 7:30 p.m.: A physical Downey team has come on strong in the Southeast Division playoffs, led by junior running back Daevon Vigilant, who has 1,799 yards rushing, and senior Justin Huff, who has gained 1,287 yards. Downey’s Chris Blanton, who has 26 1/2 sacks, will be chasing Crescenta Valley quarterback Brian Gadsby, who has passed for 3,562 yards and 29 touchdowns. The pick: Downey.
Other Southern Section championship games Friday, 7:30 p.m.: Northern Division, Newbury Park (11-2) vs. Paso Robles (12-1) at Flamson Middle School in Paso Robles. Inland Division, Redlands East Valley (12-1) vs. Riverside Poly (13-0) at Ramona High. Western Division, Palos Verdes (10-3) at Ventura (12-1). Eastern Division, Palm Springs (11-2) at Serrano (12-1). Mid-Valley Division, Pomona (9-4) vs. Paraclete (10-3) at Antelope Valley College.
