Top prep football games: Chaminade vs. Alemany, Mater Dei vs. Westlake
Top prep football games this week:
THURSDAY
West Hills Chaminade (5-0) at Mission Hills Alemany (4-0), 7 p.m.
The student bodies are fired up for this Mission League game based on the Twitter trash talking. No. 3 Alemany offers lots of offensive fire power with quarterback Blake Green, running back Dominic Davis and receivers Desean Holmes and Brandon Pierce. No. 8 Chaminade also has plenty of offense with quarterback Ed Sias, running backs Okalani Langi and TJ Pledger and receivers Dymond Lee and Brandyn Lee. So it comes down to which defense will get enough stops to deliver victory?
The pick: Alemany.
Santa Ana Mater Dei (4-0) at Westlake Village Westlake (3-1), 7:30 p.m.
No. 2-ranked Mater Dei opens the Trinity League next week against St. John Bosco. The Monarchs need to be focused, because No. 10 Westlake can cause trouble with its balanced offense behind quarterback Malik Henry and running back Chase Jasmin. The Monarchs’ defense is the strength of the team, but don’t forget about quarterback Jack Lowary, who has yet to be intercepted in 89 pass attempts.
The pick: Mater Dei.
