Baseball: A father-son rivalry is set for March 4

Share

Greg Nealon is one of the best left-handed pitchers in the history of Sun Valley Poly. He was an All-City selection for the Parrots in 1988.

Now his son, Landon, is a 6-foot-4 senior pitcher for Newbury Park, and the Panthers play the Parrots on March 4, creating an interesting father-son dynamic.

“I’ve been teasing Landon that the proud Parrots are coming after him and that I will be sitting on Poly’s side cheering them on,” Nealon said in an email.

In truth, Nealon will be rooting for his son who throws strikes just like his father did. At least the son has one edge over his father: height.
