Baseball: El Camino Real wins VIBL championship behind Cameron Gaskill
- Share via
Two-time defending City Section Division I champion El Camino Real graduated most of its key players but the Conquistadores obviously still have a little bit of talent left.
Cameron Gaskill, who played junior varsity most of last season, threw 5 2/3 innings of shutout ball in El Camino Real’s 5-0 win over Birmingham on Saturday night in the championship game of the VIBL playoffs.
Jack Whisnant threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief. Elan Filous, a hero at Dodger Stadium in the City final on the mound, contributed at the plate, getting two hits and two RBIs. Joseph Avrahamy had three hits.
