Basketball: Tickets still available at Chino Hills for Saturday game

If you were able to purchase a ticket online for Saturday’s Chino Hills-Bishop Montgomery Open Division Southern California Regional final at The Pyramid, consider yourself lucky.

The CIF announced the approximately 1,000 tickets available online on Wednesday were sold in less than an hour after becoming available at noon.

But Chino Hills Athletic Director Phil Garcia said a limited number of tickets will be made available at the school on Thursday beginning at 2:30 p.m.

The CIF recommends fans should seek tickets from the individual schools that were given a batch to sell. On Friday morning, any tickets left over from the schools will be made available online, along with a limited number of standing room only tickets.

The Pyramid seats about 5,100. The 8:30 p.m. game requires a separate ticket from the five earlier games. The arena will be cleared out after the 5 p.m. Open Division girls final.

It is no surprise that tickets are going fast. Chino Hills helped attract an estimated crowd of 12,000 at Honda Center for the Southern Section Open Division final. Virtually all of its games this season have been in packed gyms, forcing fans to arrive hours early to guarantee a seat.

Chino Hills is 33-0 and ranked No. 1 in the nation. There should be no problem getting tickets to next Saturday’s state Open Division final if Chino Hills advances. It will be played at 8 p.m. on March 26 at Sacramento’s Sleep Train Arena, which seats 17,317.
