Boys’ basketball: Alemany advances to tournament final in Hawaii

Alemany is making its trip to Hawaii very productive.

The Warriors advanced to the tournament championship in Maui with a 71-43 semifinal victory over Thousand Oaks. Alemany will play Huntington Beach Edison, a 69-60 win over Beverly Hills.

Fred Odhiambo had 20 points and 13 rebounds. Brandon Davis had 14 points, DJ McDonald 11 and Earnie Sears 10.

In the San Fernando Valley Invitational, Utah Wasatch defeated Village Christian, 68-54, in the championship game. Jalen Riley scored 21 points for Village Christian.

Crescenta Valley won the third-place game with a 60-51 win over Viewpoint. Freshman Andrew Reyes and sophomore Tyler Brumfield each had 12 points. Granada Hills defeated Valencia, 52-50. Jesse Bannout had 19 points.

In the Mission Prep tournament, Bishop Montgomery received 30 points from tournament MVP Ethan Thompson to defeat El Camino Real, 67-45, in the championship game. Fremont defeated Coliseum League rival Dorsey, 63-56. Elijah Herron scored 17 points. Jon Staggers had 20 points for Dorsey.

In the Santa Margarita tournament, Taft defeated Firebaugh, 78-42. Kihei Clark had 24 points and sophomore Antwan January had 18. Santa Margarita defeated Palos Verdes, 92-58. Adrease Jackson scored 24 points. Santa Margarita plays Taft on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Long Beach Poly defeated Seattle Rainier Beach, 62-57. Zafir Williams finished with 25 points.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame defeated Oaks Christian, 78-62. Julian Rishwain scored 17 points.

Damien stayed unbeaten with a 92-74 win over Long Beach Jordan. Ezekiel Alley had 26 points and Justin Hemsley added 25 points and 15 rebounds.

Austin Galuppo scored 34 points in West Ranch’s 74-69 win over St. Joseph.
