Boys’ basketball: Granada Hills picks up a dunking machine

Share

Granada Hills Coach Don Loperena hasn’t had too many dunkers for his basketball team, but that’s expected to change this season with the arrival of 6-foot-4 senior Yoan Yomba, a transfer from Minnesota.

He hasn’t played since his sophomore season because of a back injury, but Loperena said, “Athletic wise, he’s outrageous.”

He and a younger brother, Yvan, a 6-1 freshman, moved to the area because their father is teaching at Cal State Northridge.

“If you give him some space, he’ll dunk on you,” Loperena said.
