Boys’ basketball: It’s week two in The Times’ Top 25 rankings

Mater Dei, Etiwanda and Loyola look like the firm top three teams after the first two weeks of the high school basketball season and hold down the top three spots in his week’s Top 25 rankings by The Times.

El Toro, Crespi and Fairfax make appearances in the top 25 after not being in last week.

1. MATER DEI (4-0). Stanley Johnson comes out scoring at will.
2. ETIWANDA (5-0). A productive trip to Chicago ends in victory.
3. LOYOLA (4-0). Cubs are looking as good as advertised.
4. CORONA CENTENNIAL (4-1). Huskies go 1-0 for week.
5. MAYFAIR (3-1). Good guards for Monsoons.
6. BISHOP MONTGOMERY (4-0). Westchester tourney champs.
7. REDONDO (4-1). Foul trouble to Ian Fox hurt in loss in Chicago.
8. COMPTON (7-1). Isaiah Bailey is terrific.
9. ST. JOHN BOSCO (3-2). Big buzzer-beater win in Chicago.
10. WESTCHESTER (6-2). Comets couldn’t hold on in final.
11. CANTWELL-SACRED HEART (4-0). Rose City champs.
12. GARDENA SERRA (3-1). Nice win over El Camino Real.
13. CHAMINADE (3-1). Didn’t put up fight vs. Loyola.
14. CHINO HILLS (3-1). Rebounding will be a key.
15. EL CAMINO REAL (2-2). Conquistadores have lessons to learn.
16. RANCHO CUCAMONGA (3-1). Tough loss to North.
17. LONG BEACH POLY (3-1). Jackrabbits ready to resume.
18. SIERRA CANYON (4-0). Team is young but very good.
19. EL TORO (3-1). One of the best in Orange County.
20. ORANGE LUTHERAN (3-1). Guard play has been good.
21. VILLAGE CHRISTIAN (4-0). Bennie Boatwright is on fire.
22. CRESPI (5-1). As Max Heidegger goes, so do Celts.
23. FAIRAX (3-1). Lions are young and improving.
24. VIEW PARK (0-0). Season finally begins this week.
25. CALABASAS (3-1). Coyotes are in Ventura County Classic.
