Standout point guard Jordan McLaughlin of Etiwanda will be able to play on Friday despite a torn labrum after receiving doctor’s clearance on Tuesday.
McLaughlin was injured in an Open Division playoff game against Chino Hills on Feb. 28.
McLaughlin helped Etiwanda win the Division 1AA championship last season and has signed with USC. Etiwanda is scheduled to open the Southern California Regional Open Division playoffs on Friday against host Woodland Hills El Camino Real.
Coach Dave Kleckner said he was told on Monday McLaughlin would be lost for the season. But on Tuesday, McLaughlin spoke to the doctor who will do the surgery and received clearance.
