Boys’ basketball: Servite advances to 3AA semifinals

Anaheim Servite finished last in the Trinity League with a 1-9 record, but the Friars are in the Southern Section Divison 3AA semifinals after a 49-47 win over Atascadero on Tuesday niight.

Neil Pau’u had 15 points for Servite, which continues to get energy from its student section, known as The Asylum.

Rancho Cucamonga very easily could have been selected for the Southern Section Open Division playoffs. Instead, Rancho Cucamonga is rolling to victories in 1AA. Its latest triumph was a 75-56 thrashing of Santa Monica. Daylan Lawrence scored 22 points.

Long Beach Poly knocked off Orange Lutheran, 49-37. Trabuco Hills defeated Valencia, 74-65. Scott Majors scored 24 points and had eight rebounds and six steals.

In 1A, Alemany defeated Sunny Hills, 83-69. Brandon Boyd scored 30 points. Shacquille Dawkins had 23 points and Daron Henson 19.

In 2A, Hart defeated Kaiser, 81-34. Lewis Stallworth scored 20 points and Davis Koppenhaver had 19. Calabasas defeated Whittier, 71-45. Larry Bush led the Coyotes with 20 points.

In 2AA, Westlake defeated Culver City, 76-68. Isaiah Brooks scored 24 points and Marcos Soto 20. The Warriors will face Pasadena, a 70-60 win over Eisenhower. Ajon Efferson had 35 points for Pasadena. Newbury Park defeated Mira Costa, 51-50. Tyler Cartaino had 16 points and Kevin Russell made four three-pointers.

In 3A, Michael Alvarez scored 28 points to help Oak Park defeated Cabrillo, 83-78. Kyle Leufroy scored 17 points in St. Francis’ 55-43 win over Gladstone. It will be a battle of La Canada in the semifinals. La Canada defeated Pioneer, 54-50. St. Francis and La Canada are close neighbors.

In 4AA, Johnnie Vassar scored 17 points in JSerra’s 65-59 win over Crespi. Sophomore De’Anthony Melton led Crespi with 22 points and DJ Ursery had 18. JSerra will play Buckley, a 61-59 winner over Harvard-Westlake. Oaks Christian defeated Pacific Hills, 70-56.

In 4A, Roderick Williams scored 20 points and had 15 rebounds in Price’s 66-61 win over Brentwood. Tra Holder had 21 points for Brentwood. Windward defeated Crossroads, 60-52. Jalen Harris had 17 points. Windward will play host to Price in the semifinals.

Campbell Hall defeated St. Anthony, 69-65. Aaron Holiday finished with 36 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. The Vikings will play No. 1 Village Christian, which defeated St. Margaret’s, 87-45. Bennie Boatwright scored 21 points, Bryan Alberts had 19 and Bear Henderson 15.
