Boys’ basketball: Stone Gettings scores 30 points in Loyola victory

Tuning up for the Southern Section 1A playoffs, Loyola defeated Harvard-Westlake, 79-71, in the final regular-season game for retiring Harvard-Westlake Coach Greg Hilliard on Wednesday night.

Stone Gettings scored 30 points and Max Hazzard 22 for the Cubs, who tied for second place in the Mission League with Crespi. Alex Copeland scored 44 points for Harvard-Westlake.

Alemany (21-6, 11-1) defeated Chaminade, 71-52, to finish with a 12-game winning streak. Daron Henson and DJ McDonald scored 17 points apiece. Crespi defeated St. Francis, 45-32.

Oak Park finished 19-7 overall and 8-0 in league after a 69-32 win over Moorpark. Michael Alvarvez scored 23 points and Riley Battin had 18 points and 17 rebounds. Viewpoint defeated Paraclete, 74-57. Jake Weaver-Thompson had 21 points and made seven threes. Christian Juzang added 18 points.

In the Del Rey League, Bishop Montgomery finished unbeaten in league with an 85-70 win over Gardena Serra. The Knights are 26-1 overall. Stephen Thompson Jr. had 34 points. Cathedral defeated St. Bernard, 77-44. Kobe Paras had 15 points.

In the City Section, Dorsey won the Coliseum League title with a 77-63 win over Crenshaw. Cameron Evans scored 16 points and Tommie Groce had 14.

In the West Valley League, El Camino Real received 31 points from Chris Terry and 21 points from Brandon Russell to defeat Chatsworth, 75-59. Taft defeated Birmingham, 74-51. Darrius Henderson scored 19 points.

In the Marine League, Narbonne stayed unbeaten with an 83-51 win over Gardena. Shane Carney scored 18 points. In the East Valley League, Verdugo Hills defeated Chavez, 56-46. Leoni Aleksan had 14 points. Grant defeated North Hollywood, 75-69. Chad Holloway had 28 points for Grant. Sean Fernandez scored 37 points for North Hollywood.

In the Valley League, Sherman Oaks CES cruised to an 86-47 win over Vaughn. Stephen Rocklin finished with 20 points.

In the Western League, University defeated Hamilton, 56-54. Cushan Allen scored 16 points.
