Football: Cristian Solano accounts for nine TDs in San Fernando win

Everyone knew it was going to be a shootout between top-seeded San Fernando and senior quarterback Cristian Solano against offensive-minded Verdugo Hills and senior quarterback Mark Powell. It was that and more on Friday night. San Fernando prevailed, 76-44, in a City Section Division II opener.
In statistics compiled by San Fernando, Solano completed 13 of 16 passes for 373 yards and six touchdowns. He also rushed for 175 yards in 11 carries and scored three touchdowns for the Tigers (11-0).
Powell, ending a terrific career for the Dons, had more than 500 yards in total offense. According to statistics compiled by the Daily News, he passed for 382 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 159 yards and two touchdowns.
