Football: El Camino Real shows off its Texas transfers

They love high school football in Texas, and when a whole family moves to Southern California, it can help a team.

El Camino Real is benefitting from the arrival of the Hawkins family. According to Coach Jeff Falgien, they were displaced by flooding in Houston.

Brothers Cornelius, Keundre and Jonathon moved to Woodland Hills, along with a cousin, Jeremy, who was already in Southern California. They became eligible this week.

On Thursday night, Cornelius rushed for 198 yards and three touchdowns and Jeremy had an interception in El Camino Real’s 34-32 win over Venice.

“All of them are athletic and help us in depth,” Falgien said.

All are seniors except Jonathon, listed as a 6-foot-1, 270-pound sophomore defensive lineman. They’ve been practicing with El Camino Real since July.
