Football: Hawkins forced to forfeit games; QB declared ineligible
- Share via
Los Angeles Hawkins has been forced to forfeit five football games and junior quarterback Jorge Amaya’s prep career appears to be over after the City Section declared him ineligible for 18 months for providing false information, Commissioner John Aguirre said.
Amaya passed for 739 yards in a single game this past season.
Aguirre said Amaya told officials that he never played at Cathedral after transferring to Hawkins. In fact, the City Section learned that he had played at Cathedral
Hawkins’ football program has been placed on probation and will not be eligible for the playoffs in 2015, Aguirre said.
Correction: In an earlier version of this blog, it was reported that Hawkins would be eligible for the playoffs next season. In fact, they will be ineligible.
