Football: L.A. Roosevelt players lose items to locker room theft [Updated]

L.A. Roosevelt players didn’t just lose a City Section playoff game to Dorsey on Friday. Six of the players reported having cellphones stolen from the locker room at Jackie Robinson Stadium and three had wallets stolen, Coach Javier Cid said.

“I don’t know how they got in,” Cid said.

Cid said several players went to report the theft Saturday morning to authorities. Among the phones stolen were iPhones. The team decided not to bring out its gear during the game. The players learned of the theft after the game that Dorsey won, 22-7.

Dorsey Coach Paul Knox said he had his cellphone stolen.

City Section Commissioner John Aguirre said the procedure for all schools is, “Don’t leave anything in the locker room. Too many people have keys in high school or doors sometimes aren’t locked.”

He advises to bring out all valuables to the field or court in all situations.
