Football: Nigerian giants duel at Serra
Big men collide at Gardena Serra
While the skill position players were participating in a seven on seven passing competition at Gardena Serra on Wednesday, the linemen were engaging in some entertaining one on one duels.
Most intriguing was watching a pair of future college players with Nigerian connections, defensive end Oluwole Betiku of Serra and offensive tackle Alex Akingbulu of Narbonne. Betiku lived in Nigeria. Akingbulu’s parents are from Nigeria.
Betiku is closing in on 30 scholarship offers. Akingbulu has plenty himself. Betiku also had some competitions against some big, powerful Poly linemen.
It’s going to be fun watching Betiku, 6 feet 4, 250 pounds, when the pads come on.
