Football: St. Bonaventure has chance to get back into the conversation
It was only a couple months ago that everyone was paying attention to Ventura St. Bonaventure. Then came a loss to Corona Centennial, a loss to Alemany and a loss to Westlake, and the Seraphs (7-3) were largely forgotten.
The Pac-5 Division playoffs offer an opportunity for St. Bonaventure to return to the spotlight. The team was seeded No. 1 in the Pac-5 last year and still boasts some very dangerous players for Friday’s playoff opener against host Sherman Oaks Notre Dame.
Quarterback Ricky Town, who was sidelined earlier in the season with an injury, has passed for 1,552 yards and 20 touchdowns. He’s committed to Alabama.
Tight end Bryce Dixon has caught 46 passes for 593 yards and 11 touchdowns. Junior receiver Lavan Alston has caught 40 passes for 613 yards and seven touchdowns. Running back Marcus Chambers has rushed for 1,093 yards.
A win and the Seraphs will suddenly be back in the conversation as a top team.
