College World Series to begin Saturday in Omaha
The College World Series starts Saturday at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, with Mississippi State (48-18) and Oregon State (50-11) playing at noon PDT and Indiana (48-14) playing Louisville (51-12) at 5 p.m.
UCLA (44-17) opens CWS play Sunday at 5 p.m. against Louisiana State (57-9), after North Carolina (57-10) and North Carolina State (49-14) play at noon.
North Carolina, which is appearing in its sixth CWS in eight years, was the top-seeded team in what started as a 64-team tournament. Oregon State was No. 3 and LSU No. 4. Indiana is the only team in the field playing in the CWS for the first time, though North Carolina State has not been to Omaha since 1968.
UCLA and Louisville are the only two sports programs in the nation this academic year whose football team played in a bowl game, men’s and women’s basketball teams played in their respective NCAA tournaments and baseball team advanced to the College World Series.
