Giants’ David Wilson really wasn’t all that impressive on Sunday

Share

David Wilson was a bit disappointing Sunday afternoon with the New York Giants.

Sure, the rookie running back sparked what had been a struggling team with his 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the first quarter against the New Orleans Saints.

And, yeah, the first-round pick out of Virginia Tech also had touchdown runs of 6 and 52 yards to help the Giants claim a much-needed 52-27 victory and stay a game ahead of the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East race.

Oh, and I guess you’re impressed with the fact that his 327 all-purpose yards are a franchise record and that he’s the first NFL player with at least 200 yards in kickoff returns and 100 yards rushing in a game.

That’s all nice, I suppose. But how about giving us something a little more memorable like, say, a signature touchdown celebration. You know, like teammate Victor Cruz’s salsa dance?

OK, so there were the back flips. Standing back flips. Without using his hands. While wearing full football gear. After running all over the field and being battered all game.

But he did just one after each touchdown. One! That’s all we get from the guy who has doing back flips since he was barely out of diapers and posted videos on YouTube of himself doing 21 straight back flips using his hands and 13 in a row without using his hands?!?

Come on, David. If you really want to make a name for yourself in this league, put a little effort into it next time.
