Reseda 58, Chatsworth 57 With his team down by one point with just four seconds remaining, Chatsworth High senior Matt Bellers missed two free throws as Reseda High beat the Chancellors, 58-57, in their first Valley 3-A League game.

Reseda, which is 7-5 overall, battled back early in the game at Chatsworth after the Chancellors jumped out to an eight-point lead. The Regents managed to take the lead before the half, 28-24, and enjoyed more than a four-point margin through most of the game. Bellers, who is 6-5, hit 10 of his game-high 18 points in the second half as Chatsworth narrowed Reseda’s lead to one with just 32 seconds left in the contest. That set the stage for his do-or-die free throw.

Reseda’s 6-4 center Jeff Johnson had a team-high 13 points and pulled down six rebounds. Teammate Terrence Hamilton added seven points and six rebounds. Chatsworth is now 3-6 overall.
