Blutreich Sets Records at San Diego Meet

Brian Blutreich of Capistrano Valley High School set two meet records at Saturday’s Sundevil/Coca Cola Invitational at Mount Carmel High School in San Diego, winning the discus with a toss of 196-5 1/2 and the shot put with a throw of 66-1 1/2.
Both marks were well below his personal bests. He has a national best of 210-8 in the discus this season and a career best of 68-4 3/4 in the shot.
University’s Greg Whiteley also had an impressive performance on Saturday, winning the 1,500 in 3:56.89, a personal best by more than two seconds. Whiteley’s run is the second-best in the Southern Section this season behind Simi Valley’s Paul Zimmer (3:56.74). Whiteley defeated Zimmer on Saturday.
