Flintridge Sacred Heart 2

It took a big rally led by Marie Lehman for Linfield Christian to defeat Flintridge Sacred Heart and Julie Moscicki.

Linfield Christian came from a 2-0 deficit in the third inning to take the Small Schools Southern Section girls’ softball championship with a 6-2 victory at Mayfair Park in Lakewood.

Moscicki struck out 11, but Lehman (three hits and four RBIs) allowed Linfield Christian to overcome that performance.

In the third inning, Teri Ray and Ann Roberts walked, followed by a double by Lehman, good for two runs, and a single by Shannon Ray, scoring Lehman.

The sixth inning was much the same. This time Roberts had a bases-loaded single, scoring Teri Ray, followed by Lehman’s single, good for two more runs.

The Flintridge runs came in the second inning when Susie Viola reached first on a bunt. A throwing error by Linfield shortstop Ann Roberts put Anna Lund on second and Viola on third. This was followed by singles by Camille Barbero and Susie Shaw.
