ORANGE COUNTY PREP BASKETBALL : Garden Grove League : Struggling La Quinta Loses to Garden Grove
La Quinta High School’s problems in the Garden Grove League continued to mount Wednesday night as the Aztecs fell to 0-2 following a 70-56 loss to Garden Grove.
Jeff Kanegae scored 25 points for the Argonauts as they kept pace with co-leaders Bolsa Grande and Rancho Alamitos at 2-0 in the six-team league.
Mike Whitcomb had 13 points for La Quinta, which was coming off a 73-65 loss to Rancho Alamitos. The Aztecs have allowed an average of 71.5 points in two league games.
In other league action:
Rancho Alamitos 52, Los Amigos 49--The Lobos have dropped two league games by a total of five points following the loss in the the Vaqueros’ gym. Craig Paquette paced Rancho Alamitos with 13 points while Gino Howard of Los Amigos led all scorers with 19.
Bolsa Grande 60, Santiago 57--The Matadors have won two league games by a total of five points, and Santiago has lost two by a total of five points. Hung Nguyen paced Bolsa Grande with 18 points and Joe Small added 14. Rick Burns of Santiago led all scorers with 27 points.
