San Diego Section Tennis : Carl Chang Has a Tough but Successful Day, Wins 2

Carl Chang of San Dieguito High School had a long day, but advanced to the San Diego Section boys’ individual tennis semifinals Tuesday at Bishop’s Academy.

Chang defeated David Rosecrans of Torrey Pines, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, and then defeated Kevin Clabunde of Valhalla, 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 6-1.

In other quarterfinals, Michael Chang, Carl’s younger brother, defeated Tim Bubnack of Torrey Pines, 6-1, 6-2; Monte Vista’s Woody Yocum beat Kerry Safdie of Clairemont, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3); and Tom Phanco of Mount Carmel beat Vista’s Ron Krippner 6-0, 6-0.

Michael Chang will plays Yocum and Carl Chang will play Phanco in semifinals today at 2:30 p.m.
