Tackle Tony Casillas of the University of Oklahoma said he has reached a verbal agreement with the Arizona Outlaws and could sign with the United States Football League team within two weeks.

“It’s going to happen,” Casillas said. “It’s pretty firm right now. I just haven’t signed the bottom line, but I’m very happy with it.”

The Outlaws reportedly offered Casillas about $1.5 million for two years. He was also drafted by the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League.

“We didn’t close the door to Atlanta,” he said. “We’d listened to what they have to say, but I don’t think there is anything there. I was very disappointed with the offer they made. . . . People will probably read this and say, ‘He’s stupid to play in the USFL.’ But it’s like a person being hired by a big corporation. One corporation has a big reputation and is going to pay you $30,000. The other corporation doesn’t have a big reputation yet, but they are going to pay you $50,000. I know what I’m going to do.”
