Orange County Prep Soccer : McIntyre Keeps Laguna Hills Unbeaten

Heather McIntyre scored 11 minutes into the second half Tuesday to lift the Laguna Hills High School girls’ soccer team to a 1-0 win over Edison in a nonleague match at Huntington Beach.

Junior goalie Lynn Lambert had nine saves to record her seventh straight shutout. The Hawks (7-0) have not allowed a goal this season. Edison, defending Southern Section 4-A co-champion, is 4-2.

The game was a rematch of last year’s semifinal, won by the Chargers, 1-0. Edison also knocked Laguna Hills out of the 1984 tournament in the quarterfinals.

In other nonleague action:

Bishop Montgomery 2, La Quinta 1--With 55 seconds remaining and her back toward the goal, Mary Joe Soufl turned and scored the Knights’ winning goal from 25 yards away at La Quinta. Robin Karnes scored for the Aztecs (5-1).

Westminster 2, Millikan 0--Nikki Bladow, a junior forward, scored her fifth goal of the season on a breakaway early in the first half for the Lions at Westminster (4-3-1). Bladow also assisted on Jennifer Clifton’s goal in the second half.

Goalkeeper Dana Hamby had 18 saves for Millikan.

Valencia 1, Canyon 1--Sandi Clark scored for Comanches in the first half, and Debbie Laporte scored for the Tigers (3-1-1). Laporte was assisted by Kristy Osgard.

Mission Viejo 6, Long Beach Wilson 0--Mission Viejo (6-0) got two goals each from junior Stacey Hopper and sophomore Julie Foudy. Kerri Kennedy and Erin Dunteman each scored for the Diablos.

In Empire League action:

Los Alamitos 3, El Dorado 2--Leanna Jay scored two goals for the Griffins including one from 20 yards out. Susanna Grote added another for Los Alamitos. Whitney Nelson and Mandy Odum were the two scorers for El Dorado at Los Alamitos High School.

In Freeway League action:

Rosary 1, Sunny Hills 0--Heather McNatt scored a breakaway goal 10 minutes into the second half to lift the Royalettes in the league opener at Sunny Hills. Rosary is 4-2 overall.

In boys’ soccer action:

Orange 2, Canyon 1--David Shill, a senior forward, scored twice for the Panthers (6-2-1). Brian Lou scored the only goal for Canyon (6-3-1) on a breakaway. Canyon goalkeeper Jeff Smith had five saves and Orange goalkeeper David Bjorklund had three at Orange High School.

Los Amigos 4, Costa Mesa 1--Enrique Rivera scored two goals to lead the Lobos (2-1) at Los Amigos. Rivera scored in the first half off a penalty shot and in the second half on a breakaway. Adam Flores and Javier Piceno also scored for Los Amigos. David Young scored for the Mustangs.

Sunny Hills 3, La Mirada 1--Trailing 1-0 midway through the second half, Sunny Hills (4-0) rallied to win on a header by Steve Fichtelberg, and a each from Mike McCuen and Abid Chaudhry. Kevin Westplat scored for the Matadores (3-1) at La Mirada.
