Mira Mesa used its quickness to defeat Dana Hills of Dana Point, 56-52, in a nonleague game Friday at Mission Bay High.

Scott Cummings scored 15 points and David Lee, Mike Eicher and Tal Miller each added 10 as Mira Mesa (9-1) earned its third straight victory.

“Our quickness compensates for a lot of other stuff,” Marauders’ Coach Tim Cunningham said. Mira Mesa’s tallest players are 6-feet 4-inches.

Last season, the Marauders were 16-8, but finished third in the tough City Eastern League. This season, Cunningham is hoping to make the playoffs.

“We’re playing pretty well right now,” he said. “Of course, if somebody tall wants to come out and play for us, we might be able to use him.”
