Seven members of the 1919 Long Beach Poly football team, high school champions of the southwestern United States, will be honored at a YMCA old-timers luncheon Saturday in Long Beach.

The team, captained by Chet Dolley, defeated Berkeley, 14-7, to win the state championship and then demolished Phoenix, 102-0, after Phoenix had defeated the champions of Texas and New Mexico.

Members of the 1919 team who will attend the luncheon, at the Long Beach Elks Lodge, are Dolley, Henry Lefebvre, Everett Miller, Clarence Ebers, Dr. Harold (Dutch) McCallister, Jim Lawson and Curt Richards.

Dolley, Lefebvre and Richards all attended USC and played in the 1923 Rose Bowl game against Penn State. Lawson, an end, was an All-American at Stanford and captained the Rose Bowl team that lost to Notre Dame in 1925. Ebers later played at Occidental and was head football coach at Los Angeles Fremont High for more than 20 years. Miller, a halfback, played at Oregon State. McCallister, who attended Stanford, did not play football but captained the swimming and water polo teams and participated in the 1932 and 1936 Olympic Games in water polo.
