Ellis Named MVP of Angelus League

LeRon Ellis, Mater Dei High School’s 6-foot 11-inch center, has been named the most valuable player in the Angelus League in a vote of the league coaches. St. Bernard guard David Whitmore was named best offensive player.

Ellis, who has signed with the University of Kentucky, averaged 23.5 points and shot 54% from the field. First-year Bishop Amat Coach Alex Acosta and Mater Dei’s Gary McKnight, who hasn’t lost a league game in six seasons, were named coaches of the year.
