Volleyball and Badminton Playoff Pairings Set

Pairings were announced Monday for Southern Section volleyball and team badminton playoffs that begin with wild-card matches Tuesday and first-round matches Thursday. All volleyball matches begin at 7:30 p.m. and badminton matches at 3 p.m.

In volleyball, 4-A wild-card matches include Torrance at Edison, Capistrano Valley at Woodbridge and Laguna Hills at Irvine.

First-round 4-A matches include: Corona del Mar at Laguna Beach, North Torrance at Marina, Huntington Beach at El Toro and Newport Harbor at home against Tuesday’s wild-card A winner, Culver City or San Marcos.

First-round 3-A matches include Montebello at La Quinta and South Pasadena at Bolsa Grande.

In badminton, 4-A wild-card matches include Riverside Poly at Fullerton and Westminster at La Quinta. In a 3-A wild-card match, Loara meets Rosemead at Rosemead.

First-round 4-A matches include: La Habra at Alhambra, Costa Mesa at Garden Grove, Diamond Bar at Fountain Valley, Buena Park at home against winner of Westminster/La Quinta, Palm Springs at Estancia, Glendale at Huntington Beach and Saddleback at Rowland.

First-round 3-A matches include San Dimas at Katella and Kennedy vs. Moore at Long Beach Poly.
