Jeff George, considered the nation’s best high school quarterback in 1985, announced he will transfer from Purdue to Illinois this fall, though he can’t play for the Illini before 1988.
“We are extremely excited that Jeff George has decided to apply for admission this fall,” Illinois Coach Mike White said. “During our recruiting process of Jeff in high school, we identified his qualities as a fine football player.”
George originally announced plans to transfer to the University of Miami, but said he changed his mind because of the pro-style offense used at Illinois.
