Area Team Has No-Hitter in State Games
Jimmy Edmonds of Diamond Bar High School and Sean Rees of Mission Bay High combined for a no-hitter to lead the 714/619 area code team to a 20-0 victory over the 415 team from the Bay Area on the second day of the California State Baseball Games on Zupo Field in Lodi.
The 714/619 team had 14 hits, led by Doug Saunders of Esperanza High, who hit a bases-loaded double in the first inning to drive in three runs.
Tommy Adams of Capistrano Valley High went 2 for 2 with two runs scored and Larry Sutton of Mater Dei had a bases-loaded single that drove in two runs in the nine-run second inning.
The 714/619 team is 2-1 after Friday’s first game. It was to play a late-evening game Friday against the 209 team.
