Rodney Batt’s fourth goal of the season may have been his biggest as Cal State Northridge defeated Chapman, 1-0, in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. match Wednesday night at Chapman.

Batt, a halfback, scored midway through the first half after dribbling past three defenders.

Senior Thor Lee led the Matadors’ defense, limiting Chapman (6-4-2, 1-1-1 in conference) to eight shots on goal. Goalie Willie Lopez of CSUN (11-1, 3-0 in conference) was required to make only one save to record his first shutout--and Northridge’s fourth--this season.
