Senior running back Oscar Ravelo ran for 141 yards and scored every point in Pacifica High School’s 22-0 Garden Grove League victory over Santiago Thursday in Bolsa Grande Stadium.
Ravelo scored three touchdowns and kicked a 45-yard field goal as Pacifica (7-2-1, 6-1) clinched second place and a berth in the Central Conference playoffs.
Santiago (5-4-1, 3-3-1) must await the outcome of the Rancho Alamitos-La Quinta game Saturday. The Cavaliers will be the Garden Grove League’s No. 3 representative in the playoffs if La Quinta wins.
Santiago’s only serious scoring drive ended as time expired in the half. The Cavaliers drove from their 24-yard line to Pacifica’s three without a timeout in the final minute.
Successive pass completions by quarterback Dana Ripley to Steve Cessna for 39 yards and a 42-yard pass completion to Jason Marquez put the Cavaliers on Pacifica’s three before the half expired.
Pacifica took control in the third quarter, driving 88 yards in seven plays after the second-half kickoff. Ravelo’s 40-yard run and conversion kick moved Pacifica ahead, 16-0. He scored on a seven-yard run in the fourth quarter, giving him 100 points for the season.
Pacifica’s defense limited Santiago to seven yards rushing.
