Valley’s Bausley, Ane Win Top SCC Awards

Running back Dondre Bausley and linebacker Lance Ane of Valley College were named Southern California Conference offensive and defensive players of the year Tuesday by conference coaches.

Bausley, a 5-11, 190-pound sophomore, rushed for 1,454 yards and scored 22 touchdowns.

Last Saturday against Victor Valley, he rushed for 329 yards and scored five touchdowns to break his own single-game record of 316 yards set last season against Antelope Valley.

Ane, a 6-2 1/2, 226-pound sophomore, had 46 unassisted tackles and 35 assists for the Monarchs, who finished 8-2 overall, 7-2 in conference play.

Teammates joining Bausley on the first-team offense were lineman Larry Bloom, tight end Randy Bohn, wide receiver James Reaves and quarterback Barry Hanks.

Lineman Barry Daniels, cornerback Brian Smith and linebackers Joe Zacharia and Ed Davis were selected to the first-team defense.
