County Teams to Open in Volleyball Playoffs

Three Orange County high schools will play first-round matches in the state Division I volleyball championships Tuesday.

Newport Harbor (20-0), the Southern Section 5-A champion, will meet the winner of today’s match between Carson, the City 4-A runner-up, and Bell, the City 3-A champion.

Corona del Mar (17-3), the Southern Section 5-A runner-up, will play Bakersfield Highland, the Central Section Yosemite champion, at Bakersfield.

Irvine (17-2), the Southern Section 4-A champion, plays host to the winner of today’s 3:30 p.m. match between Mount Carmel, the San Diego 3-A runner-up, and La Jolla, the San Diego 2-A runner-up.
