La Canada to Play Host to Burroughs

La Canada High will play host to Burroughs in the second round of the Northwestern Conference football playoffs on Friday night at 7:30. La Canada defeated Santa Maria, 13-7, and Burroughs defeated Pius X, 35-10, in the first round last week.
La Canada (9-1-1), the Rio Hondo League champion, is led by senior quarterback Mark Hansen and senior running back Eric Jacobsen. Hansen threw a 20-yard touchdown to Chuck Siegler and scored on a one-yard run against Santa Maria. Jacobsen averaged 7.8 yards a carry during the regular season.
Burroughs (10-1), finished second in the Foothill League behind Hart. Against Pius X, quarterback Jeff Barrett threw for 176 yards and two touchdowns. The senior completed 106 of 181 passes for 1,598 yards and 15 touchdowns during the regular season.
Running backs Doug Dragomer and Wes Bender carried this season for 647 and 537 yards, respectively. And wide receivers Kevin Strasser (32 catches for 547 yards) and Jason Teitel (35 catches for 562 yards) are scoring threats.
