Monte Vista 66, Grossmont 65--Monte Vista (6-5, 3-2) rallied from a 65-60 deficit with 35 seconds left to win at Grossmont. Ron Wofford, who scored four points in the 35-second rally, sank two free throws with no time left for the final points. Grossmont (8-5, 4-2) led, 65-64, with eight seconds left and tried to stall, but Monte Vista’s trapping defense forced Kevin McIntyre to step out of bounds. After a timeout, Monte Vista’s Scott Winne missed an 18-footer, but Wafford grabbed the rebound and was fouled with no time left.

Santana 59, Mount Miguel 48--Santana Coach John Bobof changed from a zone defense to a man-to-man after Mount Miguel took a 17-13 lead in the first quarter, and the switch helped Santana (11-1, 5-0) outscore Mount Miguel, 30-11, through the middle two quarters. Matt Panebianco scored 17 points for third-ranked Santana, Anthony Rivera 27 for Mount Miguel (4-8, 2-4) .

AVOCADO LEAGUE El Camino 106, San Marcos 55--Host El Camino dominated, opening a 51-24 lead at the half. Lee Cobb had 25 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocked shots and Scott Oatsvall added 18 points for El Camino (9-3, 2-0). Shawn Sweitzer led San Marcos with 10 points. Russell Grant closed the scoring for El Camino with a four-point play after he was fouled in the final seven seconds on a three-point basket.

METRO-MESA LEAGUE Chula Vista 58, Sweetwater 56--Garrard Galvan made four consecutive three-pointers in the second half to help Chula Vista erase a 13-point deficit. Galvan finished with 13 points and Leo Cosas had 15 for Chula Vista (7-12, 1-3). Carlos Campbell had 23 points for Sweetwater (6-8, 3-2).

PALOMAR LEAGUE Torrey Pines 54, Mt. Carmel 38--Tom Underwood made five of five three-point shots and scored 18 points to lead top-ranked Torrey Pines. Kevin Flanagan added 14 points and 11 rebounds for Torrey Pines (16-0, 2-0). Eric Olander and Shane Knight scored 12 each for Mt. Carmel (8-6, 0-2).

Vista 62, Poway 58--Clarence Reese made two free throws with 16 seconds remaining to secure the victory at Poway. Vista led by as many as six points with 2:30 to play, but Poway closed the gap to 60-58 with 19 seconds left. Herbie Weston scored 22 points for Vista. Dave Delaney scored 24 points for fourth-ranked Poway (10-3, 1-1).

NONLEAGUE Serra 53, Hoover 47--Serra outscored Hoover, 11-0, over the game’s final 5 minutes at Serra after Hoover had led, 47-42. In that run, Chris Ireland scored 6 of his 16 points and Dexter Springall added 4 of his 13 for Serra (5-6). Daryl McMillan and Justin Schmunk had 12 points each for Hoover.

Kearny 71, Patrick Henry 53--A 22-of-24 performance from the free-throw line paced Kearny at Patrick Henry. Chris Ortiz scored 25 points and Randy Robinson and John Williamson added 16 and 15 for Kearny (12-2). Terrence Hamilton scored 16 points for Patrick Henry (7-5).

Mira Mesa 81, Mission Bay 58--David Lee scored 29 points, including 6 three-pointers, and Tal Miller added 18 for Mira Mesa (8-4), which led, 33-24, at the half. Keith Henderson scored 13 for Mission Bay (4-10).

La Jolla 66, Christian 47--Sean Rodgers scored 19 points for La Jolla (8-4), which took a 17-6 first-quarter lead. David Jermiah led Christian with 24 points.

St. Augustine 87, University of San Diego High School 76--Doug Carter scored 26 points and Michael Mossuto added 14 points and 9 rebounds for St. Augustine (5-7), which dominated the first period, 23-9.

Clairemont 67, Crawford 54--Clairemont outscored Crawford, 19-7, in the second quarter. Guard Ray McDavid scored 21 points and had 19 rebounds for Clairemont (4-7). Lamont Jackson scored 26 points for Clairemont and Lamont Grove 29 for Crawford.
