Prep Roundup : Bevis Paces El Toro Past Los Alamitos

Kristen Bevis scored 24 points to lead El Toro High School to a 77-55 victory over Los Alamitos Monday in the second round of the Savanna girls’ basketball tournament.

Dana Lind and Daniel Silva scored 12 each for El Toro (6-0). Melinda Anderson scored 29 for Los Alamitos.

In other Savanna tournament play:

Villa Park 49, Buena Park 44--Stacy Shimoda scored 10 points as Villa Park (3-0) advanced to the championship quarterfinals.

Ocean View 56, University 43--The Seahawks took advantage of 25 turnovers to advance to the quarterfinals.

In boys’ Pacific Coast League soccer:

Laguna Hills 2, Laguna Beach 1--Doug Bivens and Brian Slayback each scored second-half goals as host Laguna Hills rallied in the league opener. David Goldman scored for Laguna Beach (3-1).

Woodbridge 6, Costa Mesa 0--Matt West and John Szucka scored 2 goals each to lead the Warriors at Costa Mesa. Troy Holme and Justin Fischer also scored for Woodbridge (1-3-1).

In boys’ nonleague soccer:

El Toro 4, Servite 1--Jim Baird scored 2 first-half goals 2 minutes apart to lead El Toro (3-2-1) past host Servite (1-5).

Katella 4, Millikan 3--Katella’s Eric Meunier scored 2 goals, his second the game-winner with 2 minutes left to play, for host Katella (5-2-2).

Canyon 1, Valencia 1--Andy Birozi scored for Canyon and Tim Rashward scored for host Valencia. Chris Snitko had 9 saves for Canyon (5-1-1) and David Greer 6 for Valencia.

Dana Hills 2, Fountain Valley 0--Gina Pitale and Amy Kroeger scored for the host Dolphins (5-0-2).
